Precision Frame Work in Webster, Wisconsin
Structural damage gets measured here, not estimated. Our auto body shop runs computerized measuring and works to the manufacturer's published dimensions rather than to what looks acceptable.
The measurement
The vehicle is anchored and reference points across the underbody are read electronically, then compared to factory data for that exact year and model. What comes out is a deviation in millimeters at every control point.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. A car can close its doors, drive fine down Highway 35, and still sit outside tolerance in a way that changes how it manages the next impact.
Correcting within the rules
Where the metal permits, controlled pulls bring it back, with readings taken again between each one until the numbers fall inside specification.
Where the manufacturer designates a section replace-only, we replace it. Ultra high strength and boron components are heat treated to deform in a designed pattern. Heating them to reshape destroys that permanently while leaving a part that looks entirely correct. This is precisely the sort of thing a shop under DRP pressure gets pushed to do differently, and precisely why we stay out of those programs.
Corrosion protection
Cutting and welding destroys the coating in that area. It gets reapplied inside the joint before anything is closed up, where nobody will ever see it. Skip it and the repair fails from the inside years later, long after anyone connects the two.
What to watch for
Tire wear that appeared after an impact. A steering wheel off center on a straight road. Gaps that no longer match side to side. Any collision that deployed an airbag.
